From the Japanese words ashi (foot) and atsu (pressure), ashiatsu practitioners use their feet, including their heels, insteps and toes, to massage your back and apply deep pressure to the entire body. The heel of the foot offers broader wider compression verses the sharp sensation of an elbow or thumb helping ease tension and supply new blood flow throughout the deeper layers of muscle, connective tissues and facial. Ashiatsu is considered a deep mysofasical release technique.
*Our Speciality*
Deep tissue massage the strokes are very similar in technique as Swedish but applied more forcefully increasing the intensity helping to break down knots, relieve pressure points, and tension in the deeper layers of muscle, connective tissues and fascia or a myofasical release.
Swedish massage forms the basis for deep tissue massage, using a series of light to moderate long strokes focusing on the superfical layers of muscles where the goal is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow. Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (pressure points). Reflexology is generally relaxing and may help alleviate stress.
The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body.
Thai Yoga Massage (TYM) uses hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure to important points on the energy lines, together with gentle passive stretching and applied Hatha Yoga. This helps release blocked energy and frees the body's healing potential, restoring neutral balance and harmony.
Other styles of yoga (Hatha, vinyasa, yin) can be offered privately.
